SubZero and FIRST®

FIRST® is a global organization that helps promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. During a six-week time frame this group of 9th-12th graders come together to build a robot to complete a set of tasks in order to compete in a game challenge. To do this, students use electrical, programming, and fabrication skills to bring their robot to life. Business, media, and graphic design skills also come in to support team activities, spread excitement for STEM, and give their team a signature look.

FIRST® stands for: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. Coming out of participating in FIRST®, students are more interested in going into science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, also known as STEM. This is because students realize their full potential when participating in this thrilling sport. Along this line, FIRST® has reached over 251,000 students as well as over 60,000 mentors and it is continuing to grow every year.

SubZero Robotics was founded in 2014. This will be our fourth year participating in a FIRST® Robotics competition and we are excited to see where our team will go in 2018!

SubZero Robotics is an FRC registered team. We are 5690 from Esko, Minnesota and participate in the Lake Superior Regional at the DECC in Duluth Minnesota.
